Inclusive Yoga and Art Classes for People of All Ages

The Value of Art-Making

The value of art-making cannot be overemphasized. It provides an outlet for creativity that enhances learning, emotional expression, and self-esteem. Everyone benefits from engaging in artistic processes—whether exploring new materials for the first time or deepening existing creative skills.

Since art may be a new experience for some, we begin by introducing materials and demonstrating various techniques. Students can then choose which materials and methods they want to explore, fostering independence and personal expression.

Each participant will be encouraged to work as independently as possible, while receiving support when needed:

  • Those with visual disabilities will receive verbal descriptions of materials and how they might be used.
  • Those with hearing impairments can observe demonstrations or follow others’ examples in a group setting.
  • Those with physical disabilities may adapt their posture or tools—for example, drawing while lying on the floor with support cushions.
  • Those who need assistance with fine motor skills may receive help in handling or manipulating materials.
  • Those with attention or sensory differences may work in individual spaces with flexible pacing or customized materials.

This class welcomes everyone. It is designed according to the principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL)—to be accessible, engaging, and enriching for all participants. When we have to choose between challenge and access, we prioritize access to knowledge and participation. Some may find the pace gentle, others may push their creative limits—but each person can make that choice for themselves. All are welcome.

The Value of Yoga

The yoga component complements art-making by cultivating body awareness, focus, flexibility, and inner calm. Yoga offers participants of all abilities the chance to connect with themselves through movement, breath, and mindfulness.

Classes begin with gentle warm-ups and breathing exercises, followed by yoga postures adapted to each person’s ability and comfort. Sessions end with short relaxation or meditation practices that promote balance and self-regulation.

Each participant will be encouraged to participate fully while receiving individualized support as needed:

  • Visual learners will receive clear verbal instructions and tactile guidance when appropriate.
  • Hearing-impaired participants can follow demonstrations, visual cues, or written prompts.
  • Participants with limited mobility can adapt poses using chairs, walls, or props.
  • Those with sensory sensitivities may use soft mats, quiet spaces, or calming sensory tools.
  • Those with attention challenges may benefit from movement breaks or shorter posture sequences.

Like the art class, yoga is grounded in Universal Design for Learning principles. The emphasis is on participation, access, and self-discovery—not performance. Everyone, regardless of experience or ability, is invited to find their own sense of focus, strength, and peace.

Our Philosophy

Art and yoga together create a rich, inclusive environment where every person can explore, express, and grow. These classes celebrate differences, encourage independence, and promote connection—with ourselves, with each other, and with the creative process.

All are truly welcome..
